  21. "Safe sex" is really an epidemiological concept. If EVERYONE used latex 
  22. condoms every time, then there would not be an AIDS epidemic, period. 
  23. That's pretty darned safe. Promotion of condom usage now could save 
  24. millions of lives in the next decade or two, even though condoms are 
  25. imperfect.

  27. Unfortunately, as you point out, "safe sex" on an individual level is
  28. meaningless, as long as there is an epidemic going on at all, and the 
  29. term is used to refer to what might more precisely be known as "safer 
  30. sex".
