- Our toddler learned to make this shriek from another kid. She already
- had good verbal skills, so as soon as she started to do it, I would
- tell her to say "I don't like that" when she feels that way, and that
- people would understand her better than if she made sounds. Believe
- it or not, after doing this for about a week and a half, she dropped
- the sound altogether. Of course we got to hear a lot of "I don't like
- that", but at least this doesn't split eardrums.
