- Okay, here it is, the "official" :-) misc.kids developmental
- milestones survey. Please respond to me with the age your child
- was when they hit the following milestones. I will compile the
- statistics. I hope to get LOTS of responses so the statistics
- have some meaning. Since I have added some milestones, if you
- already responded to me with ages, please do so again.
-
- I will welcome any cute stories. Please indicate if you wish to
- remain anonymous if I compile the cute stories at the end -
- otherwise I'll assume it's okay to post your name.

- (Alan Jeddeloh: no apologies necessary. I loved the humorous
- ones!)

- -------------------
- Is your child a boy or girl?
-
- How old was your child (in months) when they:
- 1. first sat alone (even if pretty shakey) (this means stayed in
- sitting position without support once placed there)
- 2. sat alone well enough to play with toys
- 3. got to sitting position without assistance
- 4. rolled front to back
- 5. rolled back to front
- 6. First crawled or other independent locomotion (this includes
- bottom shufflers, bear walkers, and combat crawlers) (indicate
- if other than crawling)
- 7. first pulled to standing
- 8. first started "cruising" (walking holding onto furniture)
- 9. took first independent step
- 10.stood up from sitting or other position in middle of floor
- (without pulling up on something)
- 11.got first tooth
- 12.said first word
- (and the obvious follow on)
- 13.what was the first word?
-

- People suggested many more advanced skills, such as climbing or
- crawling up or down steps, kissing, and climbing out of crib. I
- decided not to include these more advanced milestones, since
- there is so much MORE variability in these than in the ones I
- have listed. (I'm going to have enough work to do as it is!)
