  13. My husband and I want to take a vacation (one week max) here in
  14. California this summer with David, who will then be about 18
  15. months. We've been thinking of going to Big Sur and getting a
  16. cabin at Big Sur Lodge for a few days and trying to do some short
  17. day hikes. I also vaguely remember a small creek running through
  18. there that might be fun to play in.

  20. We really like being outdoors, but don't want to camp. Does
  21. anyone have any suggestions of places to go? Do you think the
  22. above idea would work? We'd like to be able to drive from the SF
  23. Bay Area.

  25. Also, we just don't have much idea what we'll be able to do with
  26. David by then. Right now (at one year) he'll go for a hike with
  27. us, riding in a backpack, for about 30 minutes max before he gets
  28. very unhappy.  He's a really active and strong-willed little guy,
  29. and from what I read, he's only going to be more so at 18 months.
  30. We don't want to spend the whole vacation fighting him, or
  31. hanging out in a cabin with him! So I need some encouragement ---
  32. will it be possible to go and have fun? What will he like to do?
  33. And where might we go where we could all enjoy ourselves?
