- Hi. I have only been reading this .net for about a week now so if this
- question has been asked recently, please forgive me.
-
- My soon-to-be-six-year-old is still in the habit of sucking his fingers.
- He usually only does it at home, when he's tired, when we're reading,
- when he's watching TV, maybe in the car. But he does do it frequently
- enough to annoy his father and me.
-
- When he was little, it was cute and I didn't do anything to try and stop
- him. I figured it was his security blanket. He was a colicky baby and
- when he found his fingers he became much less fussy. As he got older I
- started to worry - about his teeth, and just about the habit in general.
- Now that he's in Kindergarten, I'm really getting nervous that he'll
- NEVER stop!
-
- Does anyone have advice on whether I should encourage him to stop, if so how?
- Should I be worried about his teeth? - he still has all his baby teeth,
- but I imagine he'll start to lose them soon.
-
- I'm particularly interested because his 16-month old brother sucks his
- thumb (sigh).
-
- Thanks, Nancy
