- Position Description:
- - Support comprehensive hetrogeneous network of UNIX workstations,
- servers, and graphic output devices supporting development of software
- applications.
- - Support the for the following platforms on multiple LAN/WAN networks:
- 1. SUNS (SunOS and Solaris)
- 2. DECS (Ultrix 4.2)
- 3. IBM (RS6000 + AIX 3.2),
- 4. HP (HP-UX)
- - Support installation and utilization of operating system releases,
- software productivity tools, WAN network interface support, system
- adminstration software, network performance/management software.
- - Provide user support and trouble-shooting for UNIX network,internet,
- WAN, DNS, NIS, NIS+, EMAIL issues. Work across the various subnets
- and WANs to ensure integration and free flow of work and information
- between product development, corporate network traffic, management
- information system traffic, and other product development teams both
- in Houston, and Austin.
- - Provide and maintain network wide security to the outside world.
- - Schedule and maintain network wide backups using state-of-the-art
- distributed archiving tools.

- Desired Requirements:
- - Strong familiarity with UNIX operating system architecture
- - Strong background in computer (RISC+CISC) architecture
- - Understanding of software applications and interfaces; including
- relation database systems, etc..
- - Strong understanding of network adminstration tools,
- client/server architecture, network management tools (SNMP, etc..)
- - In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP-based network systems and associated
- common protocols such as SNMP, SMTP, NTP, DNS, NIS, NIS+

- Mininum Requirements:
- - BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or BS in Electrical
- Engineering with a minor in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
- with an emphasis on networking, OS, etc.. MS prefered.
- - 2-5 years experience as a UNIX system/network administrator in a
- heterogeneous environment supporting 20+ nodes and servers in 2 or
- more subdomains.
- - Must be a U.S. citizen or a Permanent Resident in the U.S.
- - Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- - Ability to work well in a team environment
