  13. Position Description:
  14.     - Support comprehensive hetrogeneous network of UNIX workstations,
  15.       servers, and graphic output devices supporting development of software 
  16.       applications. 
  17.     - Support the for the following platforms on multiple LAN/WAN networks: 
  18.                 1.  SUNS (SunOS and Solaris)
  19.                 2.  DECS (Ultrix 4.2)
  20.                 3.  IBM (RS6000 + AIX 3.2), 
  21.                 4.  HP (HP-UX)
  22.     - Support installation and utilization of operating system releases, 
  23.       software productivity tools, WAN network interface support, system 
  24.       adminstration software, network performance/management software. 
  25.     - Provide user support and trouble-shooting for UNIX network,internet,
  26.       WAN, DNS, NIS, NIS+, EMAIL issues. Work across the various subnets 
  27.       and WANs to ensure integration and free flow of work and information
  28.       between product development, corporate network traffic, management
  29.       information system traffic, and other product development teams both
  30.       in Houston, and Austin.
  31.     - Provide and maintain network wide security to the outside world.  
  32.     - Schedule and maintain network wide backups using state-of-the-art 
  33.       distributed archiving tools.

  35. Desired Requirements:
  36.     - Strong familiarity with UNIX operating system architecture
  37.     - Strong background in computer (RISC+CISC) architecture
  38.     - Understanding of software applications and interfaces; including
  39.       relation database systems, etc..
  40.      - Strong understanding of network adminstration tools, 
  41.       client/server architecture, network management tools (SNMP, etc..)
  42.     - In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP-based network systems and associated
  43.       common protocols such as SNMP, SMTP, NTP, DNS, NIS, NIS+ 
  44.  
  45. Mininum Requirements:
  46.     - BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or BS in Electrical
  47.       Engineering with a minor in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  48.       with an emphasis on networking, OS, etc.. MS prefered.
  49.     - 2-5 years experience as a UNIX system/network administrator in a
  50.       heterogeneous environment supporting 20+ nodes and servers in 2 or
  51.       more subdomains. 
  52.     - Must be a U.S. citizen or a Permanent Resident in the U.S.
  53.     - Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  54.     - Ability to work well in a team environment
