- Heck, I might as well toss in my two cents on IBM.
-
- I don't think IBM is anywhere near a low. They claim they are
- getting their act together and "things will improve". But they
- have been saying that for years.
-
- In the PC business, IBM is competing with companies with a total
- of 4000 employees. Even if they cut back to 300,000 employees,
- that's till 296,000 more on the payroll. (Yes, I realize that
- not all of those are in the PC arena, but IBM doesn't understand
- what "lean and mean" means.
-
- IBM historically has made poor decisions. Some of their most
- successful products were done by divisions who weren't supposed to be doing
- what they were doing. And when IBM does get a real winner to market
- they cannot meat the demand for it and they lose their edge on the
- market.
-
- As for IBM being successful in the consulting market, historically
- IBM "consulting" has been a Trojan horse trying to sell IBM hardware.
- Sorry, but I don't think they have (or can?) establish trust
- with their customers.
-
- IBM grew too big and developed a culture which I don't think will
- be able to successfully compete in the marketplace in the near
- term future.
