- I've kind of been wondering the same thing. About six
- years ago I started keeping my checkbook in dBase files
- with some little routines I'd lashed together; then a
- couple of years ago added my credit card accounts. Then
- last year I was given a copy of MYM as a gift. I dutifully
- sat down and entered five months worth of data in it, then
- lost interest after a few days and stuck to my old .dbf
- files. Then a few weeks back I responded to MECA's mailer
- to buy MYM 9, installed it when it arrived, and then
- dutifully figured out how to split up my paycheck between
- 401K and credit union and pre-tax health insurance payments
- and whatnot. But I'm still wondering -- will I really get
- that much for all this effort? I have a pretty good idea
- just knocking around in the back of my head how my money
- gets spent. MYM is interesting for keeping track of
- portfolio prices (I like to use it to call Compuserve to
- update prices on the funds I'm in), but I have to wonder
- if there aren't other ways to do that too.
