- Hey, you C, C++, or Windows programmers out there! Yes, the grand
- daddy of all IBM PC c++ compilers, Borland c++ 3.1, can be yours for
- a lot less than list or store prices.
-
- When I ordered my PC, I also ordered this compiler, but it took the
- company an extra three months to get it. In the mean time, I bought the
- first one that came out in the software store near me, and the sticker
- price was $350.
-
- Well, that was a few months ago, and this is STILL the latest, most
- expensive, most complete c++ compiler Borland makes for the PC.
- Realize, it is 100% unused, unopened, and the manuals are in their
- shrink wrap as are the disks.
-
- That software store is STILL selling this package for $350. Borland's
- list price is STILL $495. What is my price? $145+Shipping. That's
- it. So if you were planning on getting this product from a store, hold
- off. It comes with a registration card and all that stuff, and most
- software stores will not accept returns or exchanges on opened software
- anyway, so there's no reason not to buy it from me at a ridiculous
- savings.
-
- In case you are unfamiliar with what this top of the line compiler is,
- here is a summary:
- * True ANSI c/c++ Dos/Windows compiler (fastest on the market)
- * Inline and external assembler provided (up through the 486)
- * Profiler included for timing function calls
- * Debugger/disassembler included
- * Multicolored c-syntax intelligent editor with extensive help
- * Windows 3.1 versions of these as well
- (edit, compile, run, and debug from within Windows)
- * Windows resource editor, better than anything made by Microsoft
- * Borland's container class libraries for extending c++
- * Support files, and examples for multimedia in Windows 3.1
- * On-line help version of almost the entire Windows 3.1 SDK
- * Nine physical manuals, fifteen 5.25" diskettes
-
- What this has over other versions of c++ made by Borland:
- * Pre-compiled headers work flawlessly with no extra effort
- * Color c-syntax highlighting
- * Resource editor more complete, less bugs, includes Borland's
- NeXT-style custom resources
- * Can Optimize for the 386, using extended registers
- * Comes with profiler and assembler and profiler and class libs
- * Debugger has the unexecute instruction feature
- * Full Windows 3.1 (not just 3.0) support
-
- If you are comparing prices, make sure you realize this product is
- Borland c++3.1, not 3.0, and not Turbo c. This version is the real
- thing, the full-blown professional package. Beofre you ask me, it
- DOES NOT include an extension called APPLICATION
- FRAMEWORKS. This is not necessary for programming C++ or
- Windows applications, it is a set of classes provided by Borland to
- make object programming a little easier, but you do not need them.
- Most professional Windows programs use their own objects anyway.
-
- Thanks, and happy programming - Tom
