- The source of the chart states "ideal" I guess "ideal" could mean what
- ever you wanted it to. In my mind ideal means "average"! The average
- person in these categories should be this % of bodyfat. Most of the
- people reading this newsgroup I would not classify as average. We tend
- to be somewhat knowledgeable about health and fitness and most of us
- strive to be better than average. I personnally measure 17.1% bodyfat
- at 26 years old and feel I could go down even lower. And I'm sure there
- are people out there that are way below "ideal" and strive to go even
- lower. Also please be advised that the %'s are even lower for blacks
- and asians.
-
- As for why do the precentages go up with age, your speculations were
- as good as mine. People become less active with age and it is therefore
- more acceptable to carry extra bodyfat.
-
- Does anyone have any charts that differ from this one? I'm sure there
- are some out there.
