- What you can and can't do depends highly on where you live and the status
- of your property. Here in Georgia, if my property is legally posted,
- which involves registering the posting at the court house and erecting
- county-approved signs around the property line so that one is visible
- at any point on the property boundary, one can legally take quite
- severe actions against trespassers. I understand we have one of the
- stronger posting laws (thank God.)
-
- The way I deal with door-to-door beggars is with a large yellow sign
- on my door that reads:
-
- "WARNING: Solicitors and Beggars shot on sight. No questions asked.
- Govern yourself accordingly."
-
- I also try to leave a pistol shell casing or two laying around on the
- walk. My neighboors tell me the sign is quite effective, judging by
- the number of H.Rollers repelled. I can't tell for sure because I never
- hear the bell they don't ring.... :-)
