- Same thing. Suppose the house needed a new roof. You can get a quick and
- dirty job where they slap on a new layer on top the existing roof or you
- can pay extra and have them strip the old roof and do it right. Both would
- satisfy a professional inspector. A buyer who plans on living in the house
- and selling it later would probably chose the more expensive route while
- the seller would chose the quick and dirty route. Reduce the price by the
- amount of the job and hire your own contractor.

- The big gottcha in buying a FISBO is to ensure that the "owners" really
- do own the place. Some con men will rent a house and offer it for sale
- at a great price. Show it to a couple dozen buyers, collect a $1,000
- earnest money from each and the skip town. Try sorting that out.
