- Your local homecenter or hardware store should have a product called "Goof
- Off" which makes this a breeze.
-
- The house I bought had two rooms of carpet laid with double-sided carpet
- tape. I anticipated, even with Goof Off at the ready, a long session of
- scraping and fussing to remove the adhesive residue. Goof Off dissolved the
- stuff practically on contact, requiring only that I wipe it up with a rag.
- The finish on the floor was not affected, so far as I can see or feel. It
- also removes dried latex paint, crayon, tar, etc.
-
- Warning: it stinks, and will probably attack many finishes as well as it does
- the goof [latex paint, for example], so test it in an inconspicuous place
- first.
