- Depends on the type. Most pines are soft woods and would not be good choices.
- For example, you wouldn't want white pine. For that matter, you don't want
- fir; it's pretty soft too.

- However, southern pine (AKA "yellow pine") is one of the hardest woods
- out there. It makes great floors; it's resinous and gets harder with age.
- Its main drawback is a tendency to warp, but this will not be a problem
- with properly installed tongue & groove.
