  11. I concur.  It is totally useless to teach grammmar for grammar's sake.  I 
  12. feel that has been the mistake of the past.  It appears to me that what is 
  13. needed is a systematic approach to teaching grammar from the oral and written 
  14. production of the students.  I am aware of some research that has been done 
  15. on an approach for teaching correct grammatical spelling in French using the 
  16. student's pwritten productions as a basis for individualized instruction. 
  17. Are you aware of any kind of research of thgis nature that has been done for 
  18. teaching English grammar?
