- I am not sure that industry wants us to teach the specific skills that they
- need. As I read very business writers, perhaps the more enlightened ones,
- I get the sense that they want students, and employees, who can think for
- themselves and who can learn to learn. One author, Peter Senge (whom I have
- not read), is often quoted in this vein. I noticed an advertisment for
- a three-day workshop based on his ideas. In the ad, Arie De Gues of Royal
- Ditch Shell, is quoted: "The ability to learn faster than your competitors
- may be the only sustainable competitive advantage."
