- version:
- gzip 0.8.1 (22 Jan 93)
- Compilation options:
- SYSDIR STDC_HEADERS HAVE_MEMORY_H HAVE_STRING_H (for NeXT)
- DIRENT UTIME HAVE_UNISTD_H HAVE_MEMORY_H HAVE_STRING_H (for sparc)
-
- machines:
- NeXT station running NeXTSTEP3.0 (68040@25MHz)
- Sparc IPX running SunOS4.1.2
-
- symptom:
- when I use unix-zip and try to unzip using gunzip, I get the following.
- g.zip: first entry not deflated or stored--can't extract
-
- zip I used was
- Copyright (C) 1990,1991 Mark Adler, Richard B. Wales, and Jean-loup Gailly.
- Zip 1.0 (29 September 1991)
-
- unix-unzip CAN unzip it. unzip version is
- UnZip: Zipfile Extract v4.1 of 5-13-91; (C) 1989 Samuel H. Smith
- Courtesy of: S.H.Smith and The Tool Shop BBS, (602) 279-2673.
-
- If I am to understand the manual correctly, gunzip should
- unzip (pkzip compatible) unix-zipped files.
- By the way, one of the files I used to test this was GNUmanifesto :)
- but seems to be reproducible for any file.
-
- I think this is a bug; sorry if this is a misunderstanding
- or has been reported already.
- Thank you for your time. ___Ken-ichiro Aoki.
