  13. Not that I'm any expert on this, but I just want to spread one of my
  14. favourite theories, concerning emacs use.

  16. Emacs is heavily packed with functions handling various more or less
  17. exotic transformation to your text. My guess is (too lazy/forgetfull
  18. to follow it myself) that by carefull study of the proper modes,
  19. identifying those functions that could make a lot of difference, one
  20. could save lots of keystrokes by using one smart function rather than
  21. ten's of single strokes/commands.

  23. One example is the lisp sexp motion commands, or how about the
  24. transpose commands that can swap for instance two words in a single
  25. command. Or picture mode for those who need lots of non-standard
  26. cursor motion. If something is missing, one could even code it up. So
  27. be sure to check the commands of your favourite major mode. Especially
  28. in the language modes should there be lots of smart functions.

  30. Finally, one could check out emacs extensions such as epoch or lucid
  31. emacs which has menubar support. While menus isn't the solution to the
  32. common commands such char forward, they could provide buffer-dependent
  33. information, such as a menu of all defuns, providing an easy way to
  34. go to the right defun.
