- I think there should definitely be at least an option to make
- quoted-insert overwrite in overwrite-mode. I only ever used
- overwrite-mode when I'm editing binaries (eg to change string
- constants without recompiling), and I need to preserve the length of
- the file exactly. It is a pain to have to remember to delete an extra
- character when I insert a trailing \0.
