I am posting this for my wife, who just hates the thought of selling
her car (her dream car, actually), but has gotten a promotion to a job
which includes a car, and can't justify keeping this one to drive only
on sunny weekends.

Anyone who is a fan knows that a Cabriolet (this information is for
those not yet so afflicted with the totally unreasonable desires for
ownership which Cabriolets induce, particularly among the female
gender) is a convertible Rabbit.  For you curmudgeons out there, yes,
a *c*abriolet is a convertible (generic), but a *C*abriolet is a brand
name for the convertible model of the Rabbit.

Likewise, fans know that triple white refers to a white body, roof and
wheels, and white interior, with black trim.

In the case of this car, all have been very well maintained.  While we
did not get the car new, it was evident that it had been immaculately
maintained.  It still looks great.  The only driving to speak of that
my wife did was straight highway, and I suspect that the original
owners must have done the same.  That suspicion comes from the level of
mileage when we bought it (~69K) and very minimal wear on the pedals
(not new and replaced to give the impression of low usage when in fact
there was a lot...) and the fact that the original tires were still in
good condition.  With regard to the tires, however, they were replaced
about 2K miles ago (just under 82K now).  In addition we have done
regular service and taken care to see that it continues to be as good
as it can be... :-)

Anyway, blue book value of the car is about $6700 for a "standard"
car.  This car is better than standard in condition (I would rate this
car "extra clean" in used car terminology) and mileage, and has a
couple of minor pieces of equipment (5 speed, autoreverse stereo
cassette am-fm, and air conditioning), all of which raise the blue book
value to over $7K.

To follow up on a comment made above regarding females, you guys out
there that are dads, grand-dads, hubbies, or lovers with female
special persons under the age of 60, I guarantee you that if she can
drive a stick, this would be a marvelous gift or incentive for
whatever behavior you would like to induce or reward.  (NOTE:  Guys
can drive it too, and I, who am over 6-4, with long legs, fit
comfortably in the car, roof up or down. 8))

Since we already have 4 cars and a boat, our driveway would dearly love
for this car to find a new home.  My wife wants to get higher $ more
than I am wanting to see it leave (so that there is a hole for my sports
car).  Accordingly, in the interests of making that as easy to do as
possible, I will make up the difference to her, and tell you that the
first $5999 takes it to its new home.
