  17. Xcms and its device-independent color support is part of X11R5.  It is
  18. described in Chapter 6 of the book "X Window System," Third Edition,
  19. by Scheifler and Gettys, pub by Digital Press, 1992.

  21. Xcms is not a protocol extension; it is enhancements to Xlib.  It is
  22. also not related to XIE, a proposed extension to do imaging that is
  23. currently in public review.
