- A multi-threaded version of Xlib (1.1) based on X11R5 patch 12 is now
- available for anonymous FTP from:
- DEC on gatekeeper.dec.com (16.1.0.2) in /pub/X11/contrib/mt-xlib-1.1
- MIT on export.lcs.mit.edu (18.24.0.12) in /contrib/mt-xlib-1.1
-
- This version, 1.1, contains many improvements over the 1.0 version,
- including the fixes to several race conditions and deadlock bugs. Also,
- a few major performance improvements were put in this version.
-
- The necessary files are:
- 3 -rw-r--r-- 1 ftp 3046 Jan 21 19:02 README
- 112 -rw-r--r-- 1 ftp 106235 Jan 21 19:02 mt-xlib-xhib92.ps.Z
- 1632 -rw-r--r-- 1 ftp 1658123 Jan 21 19:03 mt-xlib.tar.Z
-
- And they contain:
- README - how to unpack and build the library
- mt-xlib-xhib92.ps.Z - the MT Xlib paper presented at Xhibition '92
- mt-xlib.tar.Z - the source code tree
-
- Note: Another paper was published at the USENIX Winter 1993 Technical
- Conference. It describes, in addition to the technical detail of
- this library, the performance improvement and measurement that were
- done since the 1.0 release. The paper is copyrighted by the USENIX
- and can be found under the title "Design and Implementation of a
- Multi-Threaded Xlib" in the USENIX Winter 1993 Technical Conference
- proceedings.
-
- Currently the library supports Pthreads on OSF/1 from DEC and PCR on SunOS.
