  12. When running Xmono on this laptop, which has an inbuilt VGA which will
  13. run either the LCD screen or an external VGA (but not both), I get a
  14. problem with mess over the screen.  There are sharp vertical lines
  15. covering the top two thirds of the screen and some unintelligible blurred
  16. horizontal lines across the top of the screen.  Behind this mess the
  17. X window system works perfectly.

  19. It could be some sort of video memory conflict problem. That's my guess.
  20. Any suggestions?  I might try and borrow a ET4000 video card and put
  21. it in the base unit, and see if I can get the color server running,
