  16. It was, as you thought, a server bug.  I've been using the MetroLink
  17. 4 bit server, as it supports hardware panning, giving a virtual screen
  18. size of 1024x2048, very good for previewing pages of dvi files at, say,
  19. 180dpi.  But, the server has some bug, that causes the distorted lines.
  20. When I used MetroLink's 8 bit server, the probelm went away.  (But I
  21. then have much less real estate -- that server only supports a virtual
  22. screen of 1152x896.)  MetroLink's 4 bit Xvga server for SVR4 suffers
  23. from the same problem as the one for SVR3.2.
