  16. We do  a lot of low bandwidth X here and generally find that the performance of SLIP 
  17. to be pretty bad with X.  (about 3 minutes to open  a window )

  19. In general we recommend Xremote from NCD which provides a  compressed protocol 
  20. designed for efficient transport of X protocol requests. Xremote is available in NCD 
  21. Xterminals, on PC's using NCD Xview for Windows or DOS or alternately on PC's 
  22. using Visionware Xvision.

  24. Xremote is also rumored to be a component of X11 release 6 Low Bandwidth project.
