- Hi,
-
- I'm running Linux with Xfree and an ATI Ultra Pro on a Gateway Local Bus
- machine with no problems at all, which is causing me a bit of confusion.
- I know I shouldn't complain, since it works,
- but based on everything I've read, it shouldn't work.
-
- According to the FAQ, Xfree does not currently support 8514, and hence
- should not work with the ATI Ultra Pro. The FAQ recommends that you use
- X8514 instead. The problem I'm having is that Xfree works fine with my
- machine, and when I try to get X8514 to run, it complains that my monitor
- is not an 8514 monitor. So I have a few questions:
-
- o Has 8514 support been added to Xfree, but not to the FAQ?
- o If not, and if I ever figure out how to get X8514 to run,
- can I expect improved performance due to the fact that
- Xfree isn't taking full advantage of the ATI board?
-
- Thanks,
- John Filo
