  14. How do I run a console program, say xconsole, with xdm in an openwin
  15. 3.0 environment? I want it to run all the time, not just after a user
  16. logs into the system. The FAQ says to put the command in the xrdb
  17. shell script (in an X11R4 environment). But while you can certainly
  18. launch a client from there, xdm does a XKillClient after loading
  19. resources and just before the running the login code. Anything that
  20. creates a window will get killed. In X11R5, xdm runs a setup program
  21. after the XKillClient but that isn't in R4.

  23. Other than trying to run the R5 xdm, is there a solution?
