- I've been thinking about this for a while and I finally decided I'd
- post it to this group.
-
- I'm sure we're all familiar with xeyes and xload (or xmeter). What I
- think would be REALLY neat would be to combine these two. Personally,
- I know that when I look at system load, I'm most concerned with
- instantaneous load and less concerned with past load. So I was
- thinking it would be cool to have an xeyes with eyelids that closed as
- the system load went up. That way, when your system wasn't doing
- much, the eyes would be wide open. When you were really bogged down,
- they would "go to sleep."
-
- I'd be willing to work on this myself, but I'm missing two things.
- The first is time, but I suppose I could find that if I tried hard
- enough. The second is example source. Namely, the source to xeyes
- (with shape extensions) and a method for reading the instantaneous
- load. Being fairly new to X, I don't know where I might find these.
- If someone could give me a hint or two, I might get these files and
- look into just what this project would involve.
-
- Of course, if someone else has already pulled this little stunt off,
- I'd be interested in finding THAT out, too :-)
