- The requests for me to release Xlockup 2.0 have been piling up so I have
- finally started working on it. I think I need some help with one of the
- requested enhancements however.
-
- First of all, what is Xlockup? In short, Xlockup is a xview based tool
- similar to xautolock which will invoke the lockscreen program of your
- choice when an inactivity timeout has been reached. It has a slidebar
- for adjusting the timeout and buttons for selecting options and is
- generally more gui than such a simple program needs to be ;-). Still,
- people seem to like it so I'll add some more options.
-
- One option people have requested is the ability to use it on a remote
- session (such as an X-terminal). Currently I check the timeout by
- doing a stat command on the mouse and keyboard devices. This works
- fine for local loggins, but not for remote ones. I am at a loss as
- to how and get the inactivity time for a remote X session. Any help
- would be greatly appreciated, even something as simple as *read this
- part of such-n-such book*.
-
- By the way, anyone wanting to take a look at the current (slightly
- buggy) release of Xlockup can FTP it from the /software directory
- of tinman.mke.ab.com. It currently is configured to compile on a
- Sun workstation, though I am attempting to make the next release
- more portable.
-
- Thanks in advance,
-
