  18. the OS, and the option packages.  You can start compiling using gcc
  19. and configuring elm, cnews, nntp and X11R5 while the installation
  20. tape continues to install the man pages and assorted other optional
  21. packages.  With the majority of other products, one has to find the 
  22. software, then compile and install it.  Sure, someone with the right
  23. files and experience can do this in a couple of hours -- but others
  24. might not have everything they need, nor access to the internet to get
  25. it.  With Dell that isn't needed since it truely is plug and play.

  27. How many folks have we seen complained about having SCO and looking
  28. for gcc or x11r5 since they don't want to be raked over the coals for
  29. more products at SCO prices?  How many folks on the net have placed the same ads
  30. who run dell?

  32. Packaged pricing is the key.  Just because you buy a package which
  33. includes everything doesn't mean you need to install or use everything.
  34. But just in case, it's there for you -- when you add that extra hard
  35. disk, extra memory, large video monitor or high res graphics card.
