- We now had the second case within a month or so of a user who can't
- login anymore. That is, he can login, sees motd, /etc/profile is
- executed, and then he is logged out again. It is not the obvious thing
- that somebody put a ^D or exit into his .kshrc - we renamed all the
- dotfiles ksh may execute. Also, it is not a simple exit: When I do
- su - this_user's_name, su ends with a segmentation fault.
-
- The only way to help him was to change his login shell to zsh. Now, in
- my opinion, that would be a good idea anyway, but people shouldn't be
- forced into it like that. Other people can still use ksh without a
- problem.
-
- Other facts: We are at some kind of AIX 3.2.2. We use NIS for user
- administration. The problem happens on the NIS master server as well
- as on clients.
-
- Has anybody else seen this happen? Does anybody have an idea what
- might be going on?
