- We're encountering the following error message when trying to execute
- rdump:
- rcmd: socket: The file access permissions do not allow the specified action.

- We want to backup a file system on machine 1 to an 8mm tape drive on
- machine 2. Per rdump documentation, the user executing rdump is not
- root. This user can rlogin with no problem and can also write to the tape
- as a local device but we fail with rdump. We think effective userid and
- "root authority" are important here (for the user executing the command),
- but we're not sure exactly what those mean or how to set them. Any
- help would be welcome.
