  21. Yep. I compiled both the alpha and beta releases of amd5.3 and had
  22. exactly the same problem. amd was barfing on direct mounts.

  50. Most of these fixes are in 3.2.3 *except* for the big daddy IX26206. The
  51. new manual page is not on the patch tape or 3.2.3. It has been posted
  52. here before though.

  63. We have not tried "amd" after installing these fixes because the IBM
  64. automounter now *mostly* supports direct mounts. (It does not work if
  65. the mount point is itself nfs mounted, which happens with our /usr
  66. clients.) My guesses are:

  68. * "amd" direct mounts will work correctly if you install the above
  69. fixes. (I have them but until I have firm advice on the legalities of
  70. making them available for ftp, I can't let you have 'em.)
  71. * If it's only the "direct" capability that you want, then the IBM
  72. automounter (after the above fixes) will be good enough. (Unless you
  73. want to do something really *stupid* like automount /usr/local on a
  74. /usr client. Why on earth would anyone want to do that?)
