-
- Yep. I compiled both the alpha and beta releases of amd5.3 and had
- exactly the same problem. amd was barfing on direct mounts.
-
- * We had tried to compile amd because the IBM automounter at the time
- did not support direct automounts.
- * The current IBM automounter does allow direct automounts. But you
- require these fixes:
- IX26206 AUTOMOUNT COMMAND LINE SHOULD PROVIDE CAPABILITY TO POINT TO A
- IX26196 NFS fails to mount due to sysuicp effecting biod
- IX26195 AUTOMOUNT COMMAND LINE SHOULD PROVIDE CAPABILITY TO POINT TO A
- IX26018 NEW AUTOMOUNT SYNTAX ERRORS -NULL MAP
- IX25518 AUTOMOUNT EATS PAGING SPACE
- IX25433 Required for Power Server 220
- IX25275 /usr/lib/boot/tftp inslist entry should not list an oldpath
- IX25228 the mkboot command does not allow /dev/network to be specified
- IX25228 the mkboot command does not allow /dev/network to be specified
- IX25202 Dump image corrupted because alignment is turned off.
- IX24838 back out deltas for defect 45568
- IX24837 backout code deltas for defect 42533
- IX24807 Reconfig remote dump device delete the perm flag in arp table.
- IX24802 message file changes for errpt -i and errclear -i options
- IX24792 errpt and errclear need to accept alternate input filename
- IX24034 USER CAN'T CHANGE MAXMBUF USING SMIT .
- IX23857 AUTOMOUNT COMMAND LINE SHOULD PROVIDE CAPABILITY TO POINT TO A
- IX22469 DBX COULD NOT WRITE INSTRUCTION MESSAGE.
- IX22312 loader locking problem on remote shared libraries
- IX21986 xsetrlimit(). EPERM not returned for neg numbers
- IX21609 LOADER LOADS THE SAME LIBRARIES MORE THAN ONCE
-
- Most of these fixes are in 3.2.3 *except* for the big daddy IX26206. The
- new manual page is not on the patch tape or 3.2.3. It has been posted
- here before though.

- We have not tried "amd" after installing these fixes because the IBM
- automounter now *mostly* supports direct mounts. (It does not work if
- the mount point is itself nfs mounted, which happens with our /usr
- clients.) My guesses are:
-
- * "amd" direct mounts will work correctly if you install the above
- fixes. (I have them but until I have firm advice on the legalities of
- making them available for ftp, I can't let you have 'em.)
- * If it's only the "direct" capability that you want, then the IBM
- automounter (after the above fixes) will be good enough. (Unless you
- want to do something really *stupid* like automount /usr/local on a
- /usr client. Why on earth would anyone want to do that?)
