- Thanks to IBMers Andreas Siegert and especially Mickey Coggins who
- took the time to reply.

- I did some investigation and found that the problem was that the
- command requires "ODMDIR=/etc/objrepos" to be set in its environment.
- This was set in the shell for the window where I was logged in as
- root, but not in the window where I was logged in as myself: this
- window was started from my ".xsession" file which was run by XDM. (So
- root privileges had nothing to do with the problem.)
