  28. We're running a site with 3 SCO 3.2.4 machines and 1 Ultrix 4.3 machine
  29. having a total of approx. 10GB of disk storage. On the SCO machines we
  30. use Emerald Systems DAT1000 1.3 GB DAT tapedrives connected to an Adaptec
  31. 1542B controller. As software we use Lone-tar which supports multiple tape
  32. drives. This all works perfectly for us doing a master backup once every
  33. week, and incremental backups on a daily basis. On the SCO machines we
  34. tried the Emerald DAT 2000, but with no luck - it made the Adaptec barf and
  35. halt leaving a crashed file-system and no backup - so I cannot recommend that.

  37. On the Ultrix system - we use the Emerald DAT2000 and the dump command
  38. on a non-rewinding device, using the same backup scheme as we do on SCO:

  40. A weekly master and a daily incremental.
