- I could not agree more with you. I just had a rezl fight with a friend
- who is preparing via LaTeX a book composed of several papers with math
- content. Since LaTeX does not contain several symbols such as
- \subsetneq, I offered to send him these fonts. He refused adamantly,
- even though even I know that this was not a difficult enterprise.
- From what he knew about TeX fonts he was convinced that this task will
- take him ages. [Eventually he did it, because others pressed him too
- and it took him only one hour.]
-
- I am in a similar situation when I consider trying virtual fonts.
- I read in the previous message a lot about what they do for you,
- but nothing clear about how you install them and how to write a TeX
- file that makes use of them. How do you map from character codes to
- character glyphs? What are you supposed to do with accented fonts?
- Thus, at present I refrain from doing anything knowing well that
- I will have to spend a lot of time digging into the literature
- of my laser printer and the literature on dvips, and TeX until I become
- smart enough to install virtual fonts.
-
- Indeed, if there were such a tutorial I am sure that a lot of
- people would benefit.
