  12. Dear Netters:
  13.     
  14.     I have been having a problem with installing the most recent WEB
  15. WEB2C package I got from cs.umb.edu.  The main problem is with MetaFont:
  16.     It cannot find its files.  I have given the explicit path name in
  17. MFFONTS and the explicit path name to the macros in MFINPUTS.  When I use
  18. dvips and use the debug option it shows me that it has the correct paths
  19. in it, yet MetaFont says:  cant find file "filename" and then quits.
  20.  
  21.     There seem to be no debug options with MetaFont.

  23. The question I have is:  does Metafont want to find its .mf files to
  24. construct from and then if there is not anything there go to the TEX fonts
  25. tfm files?

  27.     Also in this distribution is a path for fig files  What are fig
  28. files?

  30.     I also cannot get the X11 file to work either on the Sun or on the
  31. DEC workstations. 
  32.  
  33.     I would appreciate any wizard who has successfully installed MetaFont
  34. with the newer distributions sending me some helpful hints.
  35.       
  36.     I am using a DEC 5500 with a DEC 5000 server linked to a set of
  37. DEC3100 workstations.  Everything is cross linked and networked.  We are
  38. using an ethernet network. 
  39.     
  40.     I would appreciate any help.  You can reply to my email address if
