- I'm not so sure wether Christoph Kukulies' longing for `a good
- collection of virtual fonts' is not based on a misunderstanding. As
- much as I understand (please correct me), virtual fonts are mainly a
- means to

- - utilize internal fonts of an output device (e. g. PostScript)

- - rearrange the encoding of a font and do fancy things with accented
- characters.

- Most VFs I have seen up to now are of the first kind and hence kind of
- device dependent. So just displaying the trophies of a archie hunt
- for "\.vf$" may not be very useful.

- But anyway, an overview over the different applications of VFs would
- be interesting.
