  14. I have a paper I am trying to typeset in twocolumn mode using the twocolumn
  15. style.  In the paper, I have several tables which are too wide to fit in a
  16. single column while in twocolum mode.  However, LaTeX attempts to squeeze them
  17. in (with poor results).

  19. Is there a simple solution to getting wide tables formatted properly in a
  20. twocolum paper.  Ideally, I would like the tables to be formatted in onecolumn
  21. mode, but text in twocolumn mode.  I tried to manually switch between the two,
  22. but then I had to mess with moving text around, inserting page/line breaks,
  23. etc.  Is there a simpler solution?
