  11.               Problems in FTPing from SHSU

  14. I have encountered problems in FTPing files from SHSU site.
  15.  
  16. I have used the following procedure to download files from
  17. SIMTEL site without any problems.
  18.  
  19. I have a VAX/VMS account and use FTP to anonymously login.
  20. I issue the command "binary" to set the transfer the file.
  21. Then I use the "get" command to get the file.
  22. I logout from the ftp site and start up VAX/VMS kermit server.
  23. I then use MS-Kermit to download the file to my PC.
  24. I then use PKunzip to unzip the file.
  25. Everything so far has worked fine (EXCEPT for SIMTEL index-creation
  26. and maintenance program for the MSDOS collection).

  28. However, when I use the above procedure with SHSU, I get 
  29. the following error message:

  31.  PKUNZIP: Warning: DVISPELL.ZIP - Error in ZIP use PKZipFix
  32.  
  33. When I use the UNZIP utility (that I downloaded from SHSU
  34. using the same procedure as above) issues the following error 
  35. message:

  37.   Error: Start of central directory not found; zipfile corrupt.
  38.    (Please check that you have transferred or created the zipfile in the
  39.     appropriate BINARY mode and that you have compiled unzip properly)

  41. Although the above message seems to make sense, I am lost as to 
  42. how to solve the problem.

  44. On a related note, I used the pkunzip and unzip on other .zip files
  45. that I have downloaded from SIMTEL before. Everything seems to be fine.
  46. I have not changed any communications parameters on my PC and
  47. VAX/VMS ends.

  49. Obviously, I am doing something wrong. HELP!

  51. Also , How do I use UUNENCODED files and put them together under
  52. VAX/VMS, PC and UNIX platforms?
