  13. I've been having problems getting the margins right in my LaTeX
  14. documents. I do the following:
  15. \textwidth 6.5 in
  16. \textheight 8.9 in
  17. \hsize 6.5 in
  18. \vsize 8.9 in
  19. because not using the vsize/hsize doesn't seem to do anything even
  20. though they are TeX commands. I've been told that \text---- is
  21. supposed to change the margins, but when I look at my DVI file, no
  22. matter what values I give \text----, it doesn't change anything but
  23. the page size.
  24. Also, using all four commands causes the page number on page 1 to be
  25. moved about 1 inch up the page but none of the other pages are
  26. affected.
