- If I understood your description correctly, this is a long-time bug and
- isn't new to Frame 3.0. There's a fairly easy workaround, although it's
- a nuissance to always remember to do it. Just add a blank space to the
- end of the paragraph, and mark everything _except_ that blank space
- when changing the character format. As long as there are two distinct
- character formats used in the paragraph, they won't disappear when you
- apply formats to it.
