- have used this quite a bit, and I think it is a good way to work.
-
- The biggest hassel is that you need a table with a wide cell, with
- an anchored frame of the right width. I usually solve the tedious
- setup problem by copying an existing table/figure, deleting the graphics,
- and continuing from there. HOWEVER, I have to delete the cross-reference
- marker on the figure title, if one exists. Otherwise, you get duplicated
- markers, which cause big x-ref problems.
-
- The method described by the original poster (numbering figures by placing
- text col in frame) will work, but there is a trick.
- The problem is that to get the text in the text col to autonumber,
- it should be the first text col in the frame. You can set this by selecting
- the text col and performing Graphics Back. HOWEVER, if you duplicate the frame
- via copy-and-paste, after you established a cross-reference, you get a
- duplicate x-ref marker, which MUST be deleted or your x-refs will be messed up.
