  14. First, let me describe the problem.

  16. We have an IPC which is supposed to boot off its internal disk (sd0).
  17.  
  18. After a system crash, we had to restore sd0a.
  19.  
  20. Now it won't boot if a CD-ROM is not connected to the SCSI port. It just
  21. sits there doing nothing. It doesn't even get to the "testing" message.
  22. It only displays the Sun logo, ROM rev. info., hostid, ethernet address, etc.

  24. However, if we connect the CD-ROM drive (without a CD platter inside), and power
  25. it on, it boots like a charm.

  27. The only thing I can think of is a hardware/PROM/NVRAM problem.
