  12. We have a lot of exabyte 8200 8mm tape drives at our various sites.
  13. We are considering the purchase of an 8500 drive for its increased
  14. capacity. I can't find any info in the literature regarding the 8500's
  15. ability to read/write tapes in the old (8200) format.

  17. I would like to be able to read our old tapes with this drive, and
  18. in a pinch, write out a tape from the 8500 which could be read by
  19. an 8200 at another site.

  21. I would appreciate hearing from anybody who knows if what I would like
  22. is possible.
