- Another urban legend born :-(
-
- Stop dumping on the poor PROM engineers. The PROM has absolutely nothing
- to do with whether a system can run Solaris 1.x or 2.x. I should know.
- I manage the PROM group.

- If you want to yell at Sun, fine, but please yell about the right thing.
- The reason that Solaris 1.x doesn't run on the Classic and LX is because
- we didn't do a new release of Solaris 1.x that was ported to those platforms.
- (Explains why it doesn't work, eh? :-) You can get PROM upgrades until
- you're blue in the face and it won't matter. What you need is a new OS.
-
- This is no different than any other new hardware platform we've released in
- the past. You can't run 4.1 on a SPARCstation 2. You can't run 4.1.2
- on a SPARCstation 10. The only difference is that the LX and Classic
- happen to require a new major release (which you happen not to like) rather
- than a new minor release.
