  17. You are correct... the response was a "nutshell" one. It is a basic 
  18. design issue on the Rockwell chipset that the Supra (as well as nearly all
  19. of the other V32bis fax/data modems costing under 275 dollars) uses.. some
  20. shortcuts are taken in the modem design, and it isn't as flexable as 
  21. Hayes/TB/USR/etc modems. I am trying to nail down the specifics, but
  22. suffice at this point to say that I have verified that NDELAY is being
  23. used when the port is opened, but nothing is sent to the modem anyway.
  24. I've tested Uutry/uucico with another non-typical modem (IBM 7855), and 
  25. it works flawlessly with DCD low. It seems that the only way to get 
  26. a Supra to init w/uucico is to set DCD high on it... perhaps it has something
  27. to do with the way the Supra handles DSR or RLSD, but that's a wild
  28. guess. If I use cu it doesn't seem to matter whether or not I set DCD high.

  31. I apologize if my answer was too misleading as to the cause. I realize 
  32. in hindsight that it seemed to point to uucico being the culpret, but
  33. that was not my intent.
