- The FIT image format is supported by the SGI ImageVision
- Library (IL). IL provides file I/O calls which support
- the FIT format.
-
- I'm not sure the file format is "documented" in the sense that
- we publish a document detailing its format. However, if you
- purchase the ImageVision Library Development option, you are
- provided with the code to implement the FIT format, as part of
- a code example for adapting the IL for new image formats.
-
- Of course, if you have the IL, you have no need to roll your
- own FIT image support, as that is already taken care of for you.
-
- You can order the ImageVision Library development option
- directly from SGI. It costs about $500, and is well worth it
- if you are writing any serious image code on our system. It
- is essential if you are programming one of the high-end
- graphics systems, such as VGX or Reality Engine, or have a
- multi-processor system.
