  14. Hi, I frequently need to transfer files/data between sparcs
  15. and an R3K. Both have 8mm Exabyte tape drives. I use tar
  16. with the default block sizes on both sides. Using the noswap
  17. device on the R3K seems to make the transfer work.

  19. I never have problems going from R3K to Sparcs. Going Sparc->R3K 
  20. however, sometimes I get a "Please mount next tape and hit <Return>"
  21. message on the R3K, followed by a tape error. When this happens
  22. usually I also lose data near the end which seems to vary in size.
