- The other day, I needed to install the cdsio software from the 4.0.5
- distribution. Since I've installed this option many times before, I know
- that it contains a single file, /usr/sysgen/boot/cdsio.o.
-
- Inst claims that the file must be installed from the mini-root, and
- absolutely refuses to install it while running multi-user. Now, I know that
- there's only one file in there, and I know how to type '/etc/autoconfig -f'
- and 'telinit q' to build a new kernel and install it.
-
- Instead, I had to take the machine down, load the mini-root (across the net,
- ugh), install, and reboot. This took much longer than it should have.
-
- For my future reference, Is there an "Expert Administrator" option for inst?
- (I know this is all fixed in The Next Release, so I'm not going to bother
- asking for a fix...)
